Jersey City, NJ – September 2025 – Saint Dominic Academy announces the appointment of Julie LaBrutto as Dean of Teaching and Learning. LaBrutto has over 25 years of experience in education, counseling, and academic leadership, and has consistently demonstrated effectiveness in supporting students and faculty.

Most recently serving as Assistant Principal and Director of School Counseling at Roselle Catholic High School, LaBrutto spearheaded staff development initiatives, conflict resolution programs, and innovative student support services. She supervised teaching staff and school counselors while overseeing all aspects of academic scheduling, curriculum development, and dual-enrollment opportunities. Her leadership included the implementation of peer tutoring, college readiness programs, and student enrichment initiatives such as the African American Club. In recognition of her outstanding commitment to education, she received the “You Make a Difference” Award in 2024.

Previously, LaBrutto held roles as Director of School Counseling and Counselor, where she managed caseloads of over 100 students, developed peer leadership programs, and ensured academic success for hundreds of students preparing for college. Her early career included teaching Morality and Social Justice, where she created a popular elective on death and dying, as well as providing bereavement counseling for children and adolescents through the Center for Hope Hospice.

LaBrutto holds a Master of Arts in Behavioral Science & Psychological Services from Kean University and a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology with a minor in Business Management from Moravian University. She also carries multiple state certifications, including NJ State Supervisor Certification and Director of School Counseling Services Certification.

“A visionary Director of Teaching and Learning is essential to creating an academic environment that not only challenges students but also nurtures their social, emotional, spiritual development. With an expertise in curriculum and program development, Julie will be a key driver in creating opportunities for students and faculty. Her passion for fostering an inclusive and empowering educational experience aligns perfectly with SDA’s mission to cultivate confident and strong young women who are prepared to excel academically and personally,” said Elizabeth Christou-Woodall, Head of School.

LaBrutto’s expertise is expected to contribute to the continued academic excellence and comprehensive student development at Saint Dominic Academy.
